What's all the babble about??

Okay,, I've really tried hard to "get into" a movie frame of mind,, with all the Oscar buzz and hype---- Never been a fan of the big screen- but thought maybe in my "golden years" I could try --- so we paid our first visit to Yarmouth's new Empire Studio-- impressive--- to watch Pursuit of Happyness---- nice story, but .... too shallow, superficial----

then we tried "Hannibal Rising" to pass a quiet Sunday evening--- YEGADS-- AN ASSAULT ON ALL OUR SENSES!! BLOOD-GORE- LOUD-KILLING-BLOOD--

DID I MENTION BLOOD???

So we rented the much touted Babel---------

WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME??

BEST PICTURE OF THE YEAR??? I hated it---although the concept had merit---- the ramifications and effects of a single gun shot felt throughout the world---- but again,,, I need to be touched on an emotional level to appreciate a movie-- whether it be through tears, laughter, awareness, rage, anger, understanding--I need to feel SOMETHING!!

I still think about Sophie's Choice and Schindler's List, and I watched Monster Ball twice!!!

But BABEL???

I couldn't get inside the head of any of the actors-- and what was with that Japanese girl showing her "unshaven" not so private parts??

(Unlike Brittany Spears, who delighted the world with her "clearcut" south to match her newly shaven north-- but that's a whole other post--- the times they are a changin/shavin ???? )

If Babel wins an Oscar tonight,,,, I'm through with Hollywood!!!!!

PS; if you check Bec's photalbum (on Mike's blog) for Feb, there's a picture of a garden which should be named the Hannibal Lecter Memorial garden!!!!

Snow Much Fun !!!!

See what you're missing Mike??? Snowforts, sliding, and COLD !!!! I thought I was the only one suffering from winter blahs brought on by frequent eating binges and cold weather--- till I checked out the other blogs and find we're all kind of stuck in that lethargic rut--- me?? I've been sandwiched between Bejewelled and the Anna Nicole circus--- Court tv is free for the month of February and that addictive gene in me has found a new target--- When the month is over, I'll be forced to phone Eastlink and get that channel on my monthly bill-- great marketing folks--- and as for the Anna Nicole fiasco,,, it's like watching a train wreck-- makes me sick but I can't turn away---- I just wanted to leap through the screen and shout at everyone----YOU FOOLS!! WHATS THE DEBATE?? WHEN SHE BOUGHT FOUR PLOTS IN THE BAHAMAS AND BURIED HER SON THERE,,, THAT WAS HER INTENT!! TO BE BURIED BY HER SON--- ANYTHING THAT HAPPENED BEFORE THE DEATH OF HER SON IS MOOT----but I don't think they'd listen to me anyway---okay,, time for another carb intake-----

Two nights ago, my hairdresser/therapist called to tell me to watch today's Oprah show!!!

She knew I wouldn't want to miss it-- how right she was--- it featured John Edward and the real Allison Dubois-

I wasn't disappointed-- they confirm what I already know and believe---- and tonight I'll be ordering this book---

The best Valentine I've ever received!!

Came home from a hard day's work and there on the front lawn, was this work of (h)eart---
Frank was working the night shift way back then, and taking care of Chris, who hadn't started school yet--they built this together with a little red food colouring--- It made me cry then, it makes me cry now----

Happy Valentine's Day Frank---I love you as much today as I did then---
(even if you can't spell !!!!!!) ;)

Watching the news after those tornadoes in Florida wreaked their havoc--- and kept hearing about the search for "expired persons" . What 's up with that???

I guess we do have an expiry date--- wonder where to find it--- would you want to??

As for my best before date??? Long Gone!!!!!!!!!

Superman and Timtams!!

The parcel left Australia on Nov. 13, 2006 and arrived here on Jan 25, 2007 after crossing the Pacific.

Well worth the wait---- beautiful picture album-- family photos of 2006-- thank-you Bec!!

It's difficult being so far away- we cherish every photo and appreciate your efforts to keep us connected !!

And the Superman pjs for Austin were perfect and timely-- he's outgrown Spiderman -- and he's a Bob the Builder fan!! But for all you people out there who've never tasted a Timtam----- You don't know what a taste treat you're missing--- In fact, we (mostly I) went through all the packages in two days---- When we were in Australia,, they couldn't keep a package in the house--- --- Tim Hortons in Canada and Timtams in Australia!! Both highly addictive, irresistable,, and millionaire makers----- So thanks guys!!! Philip isn't quite sure about that electric shock game--- hidden message maybe??? :)
