"You Are a Child of the Universe"
Desiderata--- I love that poem-- it has accompanied me since the days of Acadia University---- when I bought the poster and hung it on my dorm wall-- for comfort, guidance, inspiration---
Thought about it tonight, especially the lines
"Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. "
It's so hard to know when to let events unfold---- or when to nudge them along!!
Still can't figure that one out-

I LOVE this poem, but it's been quite a while since I last read it.
I think events unfold at a pace we don't always understand, whether we nudge them along or not. Have a great week ahead, Nannan!
Such is life, Nan. =)
Something beyond our control happens to us every single day. Just take each thing as it comes.
All the best! =)
What a nice poem . I have never heard of that poem before but i love it ..
Sometimes we just are not meant to nudge things...If we learn to let things unfold for themselves, we see that paitience is a virtue...
Remember, "Paitience is a virtue, virture is a grace."
Love you lots,
Tammie
Kind of fits with your email... I still never know when to let things unfold or when to nudge things along... But I think that the universe and the powers of the almighty are above and beyond the nudges that we give...
I also feel as though even if we nudge in err, the universe can still maintain ultimate power in slowing down a process or regaining the control... Just a thought, and one that comforts me when I feel like I have made a mistake in pushing ahead before the right time...
Or to the contrary, if we are supposed to do something and we don't, I think that the force of the universe can STILL make things unfold as they are destined...
What do you think?!?!?
G.

LJLC: I am amazed that people hadn't heard of it-- it was the poster poem of the early 70's--guess that explains it!!!!
Lizza: I hadn't read it in thirty years!! And, yes, I agree- we're not as much in control as we think we are!!
HB: Good advice,, as always!!! That's all we can do--Hoping all goes well for you and D.
Aussiesmama:It has a timeless appeal- just as relevant today as it was then--
K&S: Ha, ha, I still haven't worked out that patience thing yet!!
NL: I agree with you that the powers of the universe are far beyond our nudges--- but then there is that nagging voice that says how one person can make a difference, in one life, in many lives--- So even if we're not in control of the train, we can make the ride much smoother---- still hard to know when action is warranted----
H-- my dreamgirl!!! Check your email.
I read that poem years ago, but had forgotten all about it. It's beautiful. I don't think we could nudge things along even if we wanted to.
Love, Marsh
