Old Habits Die Hard
Getting back to the wedding, the simple country-style wedding---- there was no microphone or speaker system making it very difficult to hear the actual vows and rituals, along with the bride in particular being very timid and soft-spoken, together with the fact we were seated near the back of the church, air-conditioner running, all those factors making it nigh impossible to hear---- but the people in front of us, a child of about six or seven, kept jaberring all through the ceremony, to the female adult seated next to her- who made no attempt to teach her courtesy and consideration---- --- the teacher in me took over, SHHH, I said with evil eyes and furrowed brows, in that voice you've all heard from annoyed teachers, shh!!!--- Dang, it doesn't work anymore!!!

Well with great Power comes great responsibility, but even powere fades in time..Now you just need to exercise the power as a grandparent*S*..that or next time do the look and the SHHHHHHHH at the parent instead....
Yikes - parents need to take responsibility.
Little Eric cried loudly through part of Paul's first wedding. Mikki finally had to leave, so she missed the best part. However, he did have a ball at the reception (he was only around 2) and quite cute. Now he's soon to be 17 and still cute, I think anyway. (Just in case he's lurking around). Hehehehe.
The oldest cousin on my mother's side of the family married a woman (about 12 years ago now) that we used to always be scared of as kids because we heard that she "hated kids". We got that impression when at first all of us under 20 year olds were not invited to their wedding. In the end we went, and all of us (the young cousins) were very quiet and respectful during the ceremony. It turned out that she was just terrified that her special day would be ruined by a whole bunch of crying or loud obnoxious kids.
Now that I am older, I probably would have been quite scared inviting a bunch of teens and kids I didn't know to my wedding. But luck for her, we were all well behaved!
I would be so embarrassed if I was that parent- any chance was this the same woman who kept your leftovers without asking after the potluck?? Maybe we need to revive some etiquette courses in school?? LOL!!
